Guilty All the Same
Linkin Park Lyrics

Tell us all again
What you think we should be
What the answers are
What it is we can't see
Tell us all again
How to do what you say
How to fall in line
How there's no other way
But oh, we all know

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

You're guilty all the same

Show us all again
That our hands are unclean
That we're unprepared
That you have what we need
Show us all again
'Cause we cannot be saved
Cause the end is near
Now there's no other way
And oh, you will know

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

There's no one else to blame
Guilty all the same

Guilty all the same
You're guilty all the same

Yeah, you already know what it is
Can y'all explain, what kind of land is this
When a man has plans of being rich
If he falls off his plans, he's wealthy?
Dirty money scheme, a clean split
Nonsense the same, he didn't call for this, he's filthy
Talk team, they take the paper route
All they think about is bank accounts, assets and realty
Anybody's expense, no shame with a clear conscience
No regrets and guilt free, you claim that ain't the way that he built me
Smoke scream, we're going in flames
Know as soon as they're done what the deal be
Say it's time for things to change
We arrange that dope product we built cheap
Anything if it's more to gain
Dream, manipulated like artists, it's real deep
Until no more remains, but I'm still me
Like authentic hip-hop and rock, to pop and radio
You record companies kill me
Try to force me to strain it, no way
They got the gall to say "yo, how real can real be?"
You feel me? you will see, the greed will be to blame
Greedy for the fame, TV or a name
Media, the game, to me your all the same
You're guilty

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

You're guilty all the same
Too sick to be ashamed
You want to point your finger
But there's no one else to blame

Guilty all the same

Guilty all the same
Guilty all the same

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of this song, Guilty All The Same by Linkin Park feat. Rakim, deal with the issue of individuals who constantly seek to control other people's behavior through manipulation and trickery. The songwriters address these individuals directly, asking them to explain what they think people should be and what answers the people can't see. The writers are tired of being told how to act and how there is no other way to react except to do what these controlling people say. Everyone knows that the individuals who are controlling the others are themselves guilty of the same things that they are pointing their fingers at.

The song is a testament to speaking out against those who act out of their own self-interest and do not care about the harm they cause to others. The lyrics are a warning that people should be aware of those who seek to manipulate and control them and should rise above their tactics. The song challenges listeners to be their own person, to not fall in line, and to be aware of those who seek to control them.

@Uknkown

altairkyle42 if selling out means using a different artistic style and approach for each album then you my friend have a shit definition of "selling out"

I hate people that ask a band to return to their old style, first of all you cant ask a band what they can and cant do, secondly asking a band to return to their old style is preposterous.

their free to do what they want and if it isjt accepted by nostalgia prone fans like you then im glad they always change

if every album up till now sounded like hybrid theory I would've ditched this one trick pony band years ago

change might not be better but it is necessary in life and for an artist

@ednorkvest1665

+Richie Oon I respectfully disagree. If you listen to Rakim's lyrics, he is clearly talking about men in power exploiting others, such as artists, in this instance,

"'Til pop and radio and record companies killed meTry to force me to stray and obey
And got the gall to say how real can real be
You feel me, we'll see that green could be to blame
Or greedy for the fame,
TV or a name
The media, the game,
To me you're all the same
You're guilty"

He literally says who is guilty. No veiled message to the fans who scream about getting old LP back. Maybe at most something along the lines of record companies trying to please what they think the fans want, and thus applying pressure to artists, but that is far more indirect, and without actual evidence. P.S. Great song. :D

Dirty money scheme, a clean split is nonsense
It's insane

Rakim SNAPPED. A real poet, he is. This track should have won a Grammy.

@TheONLYFeli0

6 years later, learned about linkin park a year ago, found this song a month ago, and I agree 100%. as a rock fan, that hit hard

@valeral92

Can we just appreciate the colossal work the drummer, Rob Bourdon, did on this album? I swear, drums are just purely insane on the Hunting Party

@SUPERMA5TER

I was just thinking that, the drums on this song were masterfully performed. The immersion/blending once the first verse kicks in as well, the drums were just flawlessly executed.
