Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!.

Linkin Park Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hate when you say you don't understand,
I want to be in the energy, right with the enemy, a place for my head.
I watch how the moon sits in the sky on a dark night,
Shining with the light from the sun,
The sun doesn't give light to the moon,
Assuming the moons gonna owe it one,
You just turn around and start asking me about things you want back from me,
I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger,
Sick of you acting like I owe you this,
Find another place to feed your greed,
While I find a place to rest, I'm sick of the tension, sick of the hunger,
Sick of you acting like I owe you this, find another place to feed your greed,
While I find a place to rest.
I want to be in another place, I hate when you say you don't understand,
I want to be in the energy, right with the enemy, a place for my head.
I want to, I want to, I want to, I want to
Two Two Three Three Ya Ya Ya
Gimme energon to keep me calm
You and your mom keep on the drom
Used to be a team, passed that baton
But you flop that bod as you drop that bomb
Take it to the john in your babylon
Flushed down with the sound that you carry on.
I don't really give a dang you pissed on my lawn
Took a dump like a punk now the battles on.
So sick of you stressin'
Sick of you fessin'
Sick of you actin' like I owe you some
Find another place to feed your face
If you don't we gonna bump, get it up, get crunk.
Sick of you stressin'
Sick of you fessin'
Sick of you actin' like I owe you some
Find another place to feed your face
If you don't we gonna bump, get it up, get crunk.
I want to be in another place, I hate when you say you don't understand,
I want to be in the energy, right with the enemy, a place for my head.
You try to get the best of me, go away, go away, go away,
you try to take the best of me, go away (repeat to end)
The lyrics of "Plc.4 Mie Hed" portray a state of distress and exhaustion, as the singer highlights their desire to escape from their current situation. The opening line immediately reveals this desire, as the singer declares the wish to be in another place, away from the current context. The frustration and sense of not being understood by someone close to them is also evident in the lyrics, as the singer expresses their dislike for the other person's misunderstanding. The line "I want to be in the energy, right with the enemy, a place for my head," hints at the need to be given a chance to fight back and overcome the challenges presented. The depiction of the moon and the sun's relationship is used to illustrate the uneven relationship between the singer and the one they are addressing, with the singer an equal despite unequal treatment. The lyrics' concluding lines stress the desire to get away and remain in a place of comfort and safety.

I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you don't understand
I wanna be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head

If the sun doesn't give light to the moon, assuming
The moon's going to owe it one

You just turn around and start asking me about

kingstar I agree whole-heartedly. I've grown out of many bands I listened to in middle school... Not Linkin Park. My heart literally aches when I listen to this album.
