Behind Your Lies
Linkin Park Lyrics

Your lies!
Rah!

Yeah
I didn't think that I had a debt to pay
Until they came to take all I had left away
You said you didn't put me to the test today
But I remember you saying that yesterday
There was a time when your mind wasn't out of control
Every memory and confession pouring out of your soul
Like a pill you couldn't swallow and it swallowed you whole
Another lie, hard to follow, until it followed you home
And like that

Broken down, a victim of your

Lies
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You crossed the line
Wrapped up inside your lies
You hide behind lies
You're lost inside that
Cold disguise
Behind your lies

I don't know what you thought I might say
Seems like we never were taught the right way
Every other minute I fought for my place
And drop what I made and thought you might stay
So, I'm guessing that you probably know
When your inside's hollow, then you outta be cold
Like a pill I couldn't swallow and it swallowed me whole
Another lie, hard to follow, til' it followed me home
And like that

Broken down, a victim of your

Lies
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You crossed the line
Wrapped up inside your lies
You hide behind lies
You're lost inside that
Cold disguise
Behind your lies

You're faking, you're mistaken
If you think that you can climb out of this hole
Forsaken, what we take when
All our lies come from the power of control

Broken down, a victim of your

Lies
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You hide behind--

Wrapped up inside your

Lies
You hide behind lies
You don't know why
You crossed the line
Wrapped up inside your lies
You hide behind lies
You're lost inside that

Cold disguise
Behind your lies

Overall Meaning

The song Behind Your Lies by Linkin Park speaks to the pain and frustration of being lied to repeatedly by someone close to you. The lyrics suggest that the singer didn't even realize they had a debt to pay until everything was taken away from them. The singer is obviously weary and fed up with the constant lying, expressed in phrases like "you hide behind lies" and "you're lost inside that cold disguise." They seem to be trying to break free from the cycle of lies and control, urging the liar to face the truth and climb out of the hole they've dug for themselves.

Through the powerful lyrics and raw emotion conveyed in the vocals, the song explores the idea that lies are an effective tool of control, and that the best way to break free from their grip is to confront the truth head-on. The singer seems to be calling out the liar for their deception and urging them to change their ways before it's too late. It's a song about betrayal, frustration, and ultimately, the courage to stand up for oneself and face the truth, even when it's painful.

@Μάνος Υψηλάντης essentially your right as Mike and Hahn are the original keyboard warriors from back when the old school keyboards were used to mix beats instead of the dedicated beat keypads they have now......

Chris J C

It was titled Behind Your Lies on Minutes to Midnight album release

Μάνος Υψηλάντης

@cataclisma QWERTY are 5 letters in the row of keyboard, so maybe they stepped on them like in piano....

cataclisma

To be fair, this name makes way more sense than QWERTY.

But I guess when you have names like Papercut and Figure.09 then it doesn’t really matter.

Well it could be from that "leaked" MTM album people downloaded from LimeWire or Kazaa. I remember that leaked MTM had mislabeled songs and some of them were Tribal Ink, not Linkin Park. Remember that song "What I've Done" which was actually Tribal Ink- Refugee?

That's probably why you all think it's from an actual Minutes to Midnight.

@kyle thompson I still do have the folder with all these songs on my old 14 year old PC!
