Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!.

Trying to maintain, but it's still all the same
It's all a game, hear my name in the rain
And the pain, I'm wearing my face with a tear stain
You feign fondness
Honestly, it's time to give you a piece of my mind
And show you that you're blind
And in the design of the world I called mine
Everything is my fault
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
The problems have two faces
Everything is my fault
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
The problems have two faces
Pass all the blame over to me, it will come eventually
Take the time out to examine all these questions honestly
With my eyes shut, I'm seeing the truth in your words
The absurd, slurred into beauty to be heard
You swim through deceit, the lies that you tell
The stories you sell, knowing you well, I keep distance
And every instance you keep your thoughts concealed
What I feel, just another spoke in the wheel
All or nothing, thrown down and trampled by your heel
And eaten away by my own version of the real
Everything is my fault
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
The problems have two faces
Everything is my fault
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
The problems have two faces
Pass all the blame over to me, it will come eventually
Take the time out to examine all these questions honestly
(Who's to blame?)
Nothing, thrown down
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
Trampled by your heel
(Play the game and win a tear stain)
Eaten by my own
(Pass the blame cause you'll feel it if you don't)
Version of the real
(Stop counting til' you've got your own)
Nothing, thrown down
(It's all the same, just pass me the blame)
Trampled by your heel
(Play the game and win a tear stain)
Eaten by my own
(Pass the blame cause you'll feel it if you don't)
Version of the real
(Stop counting til' you've got your own)
The lyrics to Linkin Park's song "Blue" are an introspective exploration of one's own faults and the people and circumstances that contribute to them. The first verse speaks to the idea of trying to maintain and move forward in life, but no matter what, everything seems to be the same. The pain and emotions seem to follow everywhere the person goes. The second verse goes deeper, describing how the person has been hurt by others and how they can't stand on both sides of the line. It's a realization that they can't please everyone and perhaps it's time to stand up for themselves. The chorus sounds like a confession of guilt, even if the person isn't solely responsible for everything in their life. They are willing to accept the blame to move forward and make things better, but it's important to examine the situation and questions honestly.
The bridge sounds like a warning to others who may be deceitful and only out for themselves. The "you" in the lyrics could refer to anyone who is not acting in the person's best interest, and the person is aware of this deception, despite the attempts of the other person to conceal their thoughts. The spoken word portion of the song where "who's to blame?" is repeated several times, sounds like the person is trying to come to terms with who is responsible and hoping to make a positive change. Overall, the lyrics to "Blue" are a reflection on personal responsibility and trying to move forward despite the challenges and people who stand in your way.

I feel this song. Very underrated. It has some of the elements that created “Crawling”, but it’s different, and totally it’s own song.
