Primo
Linkin Park Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Like shining oil, this night is dripping down
Night is dripping down, glistening
And I'm trying not to think what I'm leaving now
'Cause I'm leaving now

Its time you let me go, let me go!

'Till then carry on and miss me when I'm gone!
Oh, don't let anyone give you away!
Just carry on and miss when I'm gone!
Oh, don't let anyone take my place
Take my place...

This tear between is getting thinner now
Getting thinner now, bittersweet
And 'cross that horizon this sun is setting now
Slowly setting now

Its time you let me go, let me go!

'Till then carry on and miss me when I'm gone!
Oh, don't let anyone give you away!
Just carry on and miss when I'm gone!
Oh, don't let anyone take my place
Take my place...

Just carry on and miss me when I'm gone
Oh, don't let anyone give you away
Just carry on and miss me when I'm gone
Oh, don't let anyone take my place
Take my place...

Tell them I couldn't help myself...
And tell them I was alone...
Tell them I was the only one
And there's that can stop me from going home...

Tell them I couldn't help myself...
And tell them I was alone...
Oh, tell them I was the only one
And there's that can stop me from going home...

From going home...
From going home...
From going home...

Oh, tell me I was the only one and there's nothing that can stop me...
From going home...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Linkin Park's song "Primo" describe a painful goodbye as the singer leaves someone behind. The first verse compares the night to "shining oil" and describes how it drips down, creating a glistening effect. The singer is attempting to avoid thinking about what they are leaving behind as they depart for their next journey. The chorus repeats the phrase "carry on and miss me when I'm gone," asking the people left behind to remember them and not let anyone else take their place. The second verse describes how the "tear" between them is getting "thinner now," illustrating the fact that it's time for the singer to move on. They acknowledge that it's time to let go but suggest that there's still time to cherish their memories before leaving.

In the bridge, the singer speaks directly to those they are leaving behind, urging them to tell others that they "couldn't help [themselves]" and that they were "alone." The lyric "there's nothing that can stop me from going home" is a poignant reminder of the finality of the situation. The song ends with the repetition of the phrase "tell me I was the only one and there's nothing that can stop me from going home." This repetition emphasizes that the singer is determined to return to where they belong, no matter what obstacles they may face on the way.

Overall, "Primo" is a powerful and emotional song that explores the pain of saying goodbye and the importance of moving on. It's a reminder that memories can be cherished, even when it's time to move forward.

I may be alone on this, but to me, this is more powerful than the finished version. That chorus... is just... beautiful. :)

ChloeOfTheCookies

*****Ā I would call Living Things an unfinished album. The only proper songs on there are Burn It Down, Lost In The Echo, Powerless and Castle Of Glass, in my opinion. I didn't even like BID much. The rest were either too short or needed improvement on either lyrics or music or both. :(

DJ Ritter

ChloeOfTheCookiesĀ Roads Untraveled was short lyrically, but Mike put his heart into that song. One of their best songs IMO.

ChloeOfTheCookies

DJ RitterĀ I guess that's just how it came across to me. Each to their own, I suppose. :)

tyler navarro

ChloeOfTheCookiesĀ I think they were going with what the rest of the album sounded like. Yea this one gets kinda fast but the version has the enrgy the rest of the album did

ChloeOfTheCookies

tyler navarroĀ I don't think it has the passion that this one has though. :/
