Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!.

Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up (when I'm talking to you)
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
I'm about to...
wasn't that fun, lets try something else
Forty five caliber killa but outta the filla
Dela villa gonna show y'all brothers how you not a gorilla
Smooth talking fully automatic weapon concilla
Taste thriller, break thriller, lets hit em' with the bounce filla
Filthy stinkin' standin' on solid ground
Still be sinkin' submerging and the parks
Still be Linkin' pluck beef when its starts, fuck what your thinking, its not a mirage
I'm in a mother fuckin' tractor from out of the garage
With an if through the duck, but its hard to dodge
In the back of that spine where my dogs' lie
Gonna flip it straight up rippin' apart ya squad
X to the excutioner style, cuts and blends
Like a syringe hangin' you from each of ya limbs
See me comin' through ya party hard
Without no bodyguard
Smoking something stompin on each of ya Tims
I'm the be to the L the A the see king
And when it come to planning the thought to keep thinking man
[Repeat: x8]
Shut up
The lyrics to Linkin Park's song X-Ecutioner Style are a combination of aggressive and dark lines delivered by rapper Mike Shinoda. He starts with a simple yet powerful command to "shut up" multiple times, indicating he wants the listener to pay attention as he is about to speak. He then introduces himself as a "forty-five caliber killa" and boasts about his abilities to take down opponents with ease. He compares himself to a gorilla but uses the word "not" to emphasize that he is not an animal but a smooth-talking and fully automatic weapon. He further describes the impact of his bullets as "thriller" and "bouncin filla."
As he progresses, he mentions that he is still standing even when others sink, indicating his strength and resilience. He then says he is in a tractor out of his garage, possibly referring to his humble beginnings but with immense power that he can't ignore. He also mentions his companions, his dogs, who are ready to rip apart anyone who dares to challenge them. He uses "X to the executioner style," a term related to turntable scratching and blending beats, to describe his skills in cutting and blending like a syringe.
Overall, the lyrics convey the message that Mike Shinoda is a force to be reckoned with, and his reputation precedes him. He is fearless and determined to succeed, and anyone who challenges him will pay the price. The repetitive use of "shut up" serves to emphasize the importance of his message and the need for the listener to focus and understand his words.
