Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!.

Wa-wa-watch them flee, hip-hop heads
"And you do it like this"
(It's goin' down) it's goin' down
(It's goin' down) it's goin' down
(It's goin' down) it's goin' down
(It's goin' down)
It's goin' down
The rhythm projects 'round the next sound
Reflects the complex hybrid dialect now
Detect the mesh of many elements compressed down
The meltin' pot of a super-futuresque style
The combination of a vocal caress
With lungs that gasp for breath from emotional stress
With special effects and a distorted collage
Carefully lodged between beats of rhythmic barrage
It's goin' down
A logical progression on the timeline
The separation narrowed down to a fine line
To blur the edges so they blend together properly
Take you on an audible odyssey, now
It's goin' down
A logical progression on the timeline
The separation narrowed down to a fine line
To blur the edges so they blend together properly
Take you on an audible odyssey, now
It's goin' down, put it out for the world to see
LP and X-Men to the 10th degree
(It's goin' down) nobody in the world is safe
When we melt down the wax in your record crate
(It's goin' down) put it out for the world to see
LP and X-Men to the 10th degree
(It's goin' down) nobody in the world is safe
When we melt down the wax in your record crate
(It's goin' down)
"Put it on"
"I said it goes like this"
"And you do it like this"
It's goin' down
Once again it is
Composed sentences all together venomous
The four elements of natural force
Projected daily through the sound of the source
Everybody on board as we blend the sword with the pen
The mightiest of weapons swingin' right from the chin
The elevate of mental states long gone with the wind
To defend men for shoddy imitation pretends
It's goin' down
Style assimilation, readily
Trekkin' through the weaponry of a pure pedigree
Cleverly seein' through whatever is ahead of me
Whatever the weather be, we're advancin' steadily
It's goin' down to sub-terrestrial hot
I rhyme regiment that's callin' the shots
Execution of collaborative plots
Ready to bring the separation of style to a stop
It's goin' down
A logical progression on the timeline
The separation narrowed down to a fine line
To blur the edges so they blend together properly
Take you on an audible odyssey, now
It's goin' down, put it out for the world to see

"X-men 'bout to blast off world wide"
"And you do it like this"
"'Bout to blast off world wide"

The lyrics to "It's going down" by Linkin Park & X-Ecutioners feat. Wayne Static (Static-X) is a commentary on the evolution of music and its fusion with different styles, particularly hip-hop and rock. The opening lines, "I knew I was being threatened/Do you think it's worth holding out" suggest a sense of unease, a persistent fear of something imminent. This can be interpreted as the fear of change or the fear of branching out into something different. The following lines allude to the rumors circulating about certain groups or individuals in the industry, adding to the tension and apprehension.
The song's chorus, "It's going down," is a reference to the imminent change and evolution of music. The lyrics highlight the emergence of a new mix of musical styles, a blend of rap, hip-hop and rock, resulting in a unique, futuristic style. "The rhythm projects 'round the next sound/Reflects the complex hybrid dialect now/Detect the mesh of many elements compressed down/The melting pot of a super-futureesque style" are lines that emphasize the experimental nature of the music and the way different elements merge to create something new.
The song's last verse suggests a sense of defiance and determination, with lines such as "Ready to bring the separation of style to a stop" indicating a desire to blur lines and boundaries. The repeated refrain, "And you do it like this," encourages participation, suggesting that this is something that can be accomplished collaboratively if done with enthusiasm and an open mind.

@SashaSession
This song is originally a song from The X-Ecutioners, not Linkin Park, but I'm glad to see it getting recognition again almost two decades later. Mike Shinoda as always going hard on those rap-rock verses!!!

Why you mention Wayne Static? He just did a cameo in official music video (as guys from Adema and others), but he had nothing to do with that song. Only X-ecutioners, Mike and Joe worked on it.
